Residents of the city of Ma’dan and its neighboring villages in the western Deir Ezzor countryside are suffering from long hours of power outages per day, according to a Deir Ezzor 24 Network correspondent.
Our correspondent said that power outages in Ma’dan have reached 22 hours per day, with most residents having no alternative to the regular electricity supply.
Residents of the eastern neighborhoods of the city confirmed to Deir Ezzor 24 Network that electrical workshops are suffering from a severe shortage of equipment, which causes delays in repairing faults in the electricity grid when they are reported.
A private source from the town told Deir Ezzor 24 that upon entering the city following the fall of the former regime, the SDF stole some transformers and electrical cranes, further exacerbating the electricity crisis in the city.
The electricity grid in Ma’dan suffers from recurring malfunctions due to its age, recent theft, and the current lack of alternatives from the city’s electricity company.
The increase in power rationing hours was due to the power cables’ inability to withstand the pressure of being operated for extended periods of time. The company and the city’s needs were raised to Deir ez-Zor Governorate to meet their demands.
