The towns of Ma’dan and Al-Tabni, along with neighboring villages in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, have witnessed a noticeable rise in the prices of ice blocks, according to a correspondent from DeirEzzor24 Network.
Our correspondent reported that the price of a single ice block has reached 50,000 Syrian pounds in local markets, and around 45,000 pounds from mobile vendors over the past two days.
He added that in the town of Al-Tabni and nearby villages, prices have ranged between 35,000 and 40,000 Syrian pounds, amid a severe shortage due to the limited number of ice factories in the region. This shortage has resulted in an inability to meet the growing needs of residents and led to price increases driven by low supply and high demand.
Despite the price hikes, residents have complained about the poor quality of the ice blocks, noting that some are hollow inside, causing them to melt quickly. This is attributed to inadequate freezing times in the molds by factory owners.
Residents of Al-Tabni and neighboring villages have appealed to the concerned authorities to impose strict oversight on vendors and ice manufacturers, urging them to set fair prices that take into account the difficult living conditions and rising temperatures, in order to ease the burden on residents trying to meet their basic needs.
