The General Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Deir Ezzor, in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), completed a project to rehabilitate the drinking water pumping system to the town of Abu Khashab, in a step aimed at improving water services and enhancing the stability of the water supply for about 45 thousand people in the villages of the town’s desert.
The project works included the installation of a solar energy system comprising 741 panels to operate raw and clear water pumping sets, in addition to the installation of service panels, which will contribute to reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and ensuring continuity of operation.
The project also included the construction of a 100-cubic-meter-capacity concrete reservoir, with a pumping capacity of 50 cubic meters per hour and a height of 15 meters, in addition to the installation of a sheathed iron water intake , as part of efforts aimed at improving the efficiency of the pumping system and the reliability of the drinking water network in the area.
