In a move aimed at improving the drinking water situation in the Al-Arisha district in the Hasakah countryside, the General Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, began construction work on a new water desalination plant powered by solar energy, with a production capacity of up to 10 cubic meters per hour.

The station, along with existing plants, is expected to contribute to raising the total production capacity of the desalination plants in the district to 24 cubic meters per hour, enhancing the availability of drinking water and helping meet the needs of the residents.

In a related context, a delegation from the United Nations Children’s Fund «UNICEF» conducted a field visit to the Southern Water Line, to review the technical and operational status of the stations, assess their needs, and discuss the possibility of implementing the necessary maintenance and rehabilitation work.

These moves come within the framework of joint efforts to support the water sector in Hasakah, improve the efficiency of facilities and ensure continued access to drinking water for residents.
