A number of workers from the Odeh oilfield in the Qahtaniyah countryside organized a protest sit-in and blocked the international road, rejecting decisions to terminate their services, despite previous promises to integrate them and establish their job status within official oil institutions.

According to the protesting workers, they were surprised yesterday evening by the issuance of decisions to terminate their services, which prompted them to organize a sit-in and block the road, to demand the cancellation of dismissal decisions and justice for workers who spent years serving the oil sector.

The protesters called on the concerned authorities, most notably the Syrian Petroleum Company and the Ministry of Energy, to intervene urgently to address the issue and reconsider the decisions to terminate services, stressing their adherence to their job rights.

The workers warned of continued tension and escalation of protests if their demands are not met and a solution to their issue is not found.
