The Euphrates Springs Association launched an environmental campaign titled “Green Homeland,” aiming to raise environmental awareness and reduce pollution and its impact on the climate in Deir Ezzor, according to a reporter of the DeirEzzor24 Network.
Our reporter said that this campaign was a self-initiated initiative by the association’s environmental team, targeting several locations, including the garden of the “Uthman ibn Affan” Mosque in the Old Airport neighborhood, the banks of the Euphrates River, and the “Abu Tamam” Park in the Al-Hamidiyah neighborhood.
The campaign included cleaning operations in selected areas, planting 20 seedlings in each location, and watering the plants. The association’s volunteers participated in the campaign, along with the Syrian Civil Defense team, as well as other associations and organizations, including the “RAF” Association for Development, the Department of Ecumenical Relations for Development (Guba), the “Darb” Center, and local residents.
He added that the campaign focused on awareness-raising, as volunteers explained to children and residents the importance of sorting waste and electronic waste and protecting the Euphrates River from pollution. They also discussed the role of green spaces in cities and the impact of agriculture and sustainability on the environment and society, encouraging participants to contribute to planting seedlings and commit to caring for them.
The aiml of this campaign is to promote the idea of a green nation that is vibrant with a clean life and contribute to raising environmental awareness in society.
