On Sunday, the city of Deir Ezzzor experienced a unique celebration event to mark World Traffic Day, which falls on May 4th of each year. The event was sponsored by Deir Ezzor Governor Ghassan al-Sayed Ahmed, and attended by the provincial police chief, Colonel Mohammed al-Sheikh, and a number of official and civil society figures.
The event came as part of efforts to instill a culture of traffic awareness in society and emphasize the importance of cooperation between relevant authorities and citizens to maintain public safety on the streets and roads.
The event included a traffic parade featuring vehicles and motorcycles, which set off from the Panorama Roundabout toward the Dala Roundabout. Crowds of citizens, including children and women, lined up to welcome the procession with flowers, a symbolic gesture of gratitude and appreciation to the traffic and security forces.
During the celebration, the DeirEzzor24 Network met with some of the participants, including Hanadi Imad, a member of the Media Association for Survivors and Missing Persons. She explained that their participation came in appreciation of the efforts of security personnel. They presented flowers and sweets as a token of love and gratitude, urging them to continue performing their duties with greater dedication.
This year’s World Traffic Day in Deir Ezzor was not just a traditional occasion; it took on a special character, reflecting the will to live and triumph over adversity, amidst an atmosphere of hope and community solidarity in a city looking forward to a safer and more organized future.
