According to a reporter of the DeirEzzor24 Network, residents of the city of Ma’dan in the western Deir Ezzor countryside are suffering from garages closing their doors early in the morning, forcing them to rent private cars at high prices to travel to the cities of Deir Ezzor or Raqqa.
Our reporter said that minibuses close their doors to residents at 3:00 PM at the latest, creating an obstacle for those traveling from Raqqa to Ma’dan and the town of al-Tabni in the western Deir Ezzor countryside, forcing them to spend the night there to complete their studies or government transactions.
Muhammad al-Hilal, a resident of Ma’dan, confirmed that some minibus drivers wait outside the garages until 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM to transport passengers from Ma’dan to Raqqa or Deir Ezzor. They charge between 70,000 and 80,000 Syrian pounds, while the fare inside the garage is only 50,000 Syrian pounds.
He added that students from Raqqa travel to the city of Ma’dan and the town of al-Tabni to complete government transactions or register for universities, forcing them to pay drivers’ fees if they are late, due to the lack of accommodation.
This also applies to those traveling from Ma’dan and al-Tabni to the city of Deir Ezzor, where transportation fares after 4:00 PM range between 75,000 and 80,000 Syrian pounds, while in the morning, they drop to between 40,000 and 50,000 Syrian pounds. This increases the suffering of residents who travel to Deir Ezzor to access health centers and medical laboratories, and some also to collect their salaries or purchase necessities
