With the onset of spring, residents of Deir Ezzor have appealed to relevant authorities to rehabilitate public parks, which serve as their only free outlet, especially during the evening hours, according to a DeirEzzor24 Network reporter.
Our reporter said that most of the city’s public parks, including the Central Park, Teachers’ Park, and Abu Tammam Park, suffer from a severe lack of basic services, most notably the lack of lighting. They are also in dire need of comprehensive cleaning and maintenance. Many of the parks’ benches have been vandalized, with no significant repair work having been carried out in years.
Several residents confirmed that these parks have become a major destination for them and their children, especially after the destruction of the Corniche Road during the war, which has increased the importance of these green spaces. They called on the Deir Ezzor Municipality to urgently intervene to maintain the benches, clean the parks, and provide them with solar-powered lighting systems to ensure they remain usable during the night hours.
They hope their demands will be materialized quickly, ensuring a safe and clean environment that benefits both of the city’s residents and visitors.
