In recent months, the health sector in Deir Ezzor Governorate has witnessed rapid steps to develop medical services and improve the level of care provided to the people, with the implementation and opening of a number of health projects in the governorate.
Today, Monday, August 10, the Minister of Health, Dr. Musab Al-Ali, inaugurated a number of medical and service projects at Deir Ezzor National Hospital, in the presence of the Governor of Deir Ezzor, Ziad Al-Ayesh, and the Director of Health, Dr. Nasr Al-Khalaf.
The projects included the opening of a cardiac catheterization department in cooperation with the SAMS organization, which includes an integrated cardiac catheterization device and a 16-bed cardiac care unit. The department will enter active service within a week, which will reduce referrals of heart patients outside the governorate.
The prosthetic limb manufacturing center was also opened in coordination with the United Nations Development Program “UNDP”, which is the first of its kind in Deir Ezzor, and provides lower limb manufacturing services above and below the knee, in addition to training and qualifying beneficiaries to use them.
The work also included expanding the hospital’s ambulance department, which receives approximately 500 to 600 cases daily, by adding eight new beds and separating the internal ambulance from the surgical ambulance, with the aim of organizing work and improving the efficiency of response to emergency cases.
Earlier today, the Minister of Health laid the foundation stone for the Oncology Hospital project in Deir Ezzor Governorate, explaining that preparing studies for the project will take about four months, while construction work is expected to continue for 30 continuous months.
These projects come within the efforts to develop the health infrastructure in Deir Ezzor and expand the scope of specialized services available to the population within the governorate.
