Recently, the residents of Deir Ezzor have resorted to buying second hand clothes (bales) instead of new ones due to the deteriorating economic situation of the majority of the population, according to a reporter of DeirEzzor24 Network.
Our reporter stated that second hand clothes have been widely bought recently by young men and women, and families have been buying them for children in a large and noticeable way.
Hajj Abu Mahmoud, a “bale seller” in Al-Hawd Street, said that their sales have recently increased significantly due to the low prices of bales compared to new clothes.
He added that European bales coming from the north meet the needs of the residents since they are low-priced and not used much.
He pointed out that the price of one piece ranges between 15 and 20 thousand, and the buyer is taken into consideration in the event of buying more than one piece.
Ms. “Manal Al-Abdullah”, a resident of Al-Qusour neighborhood, said, “Due to the non-payment of salaries and the high prices affected by the dollar, we have resorted to buying used clothes these days.”
She added, “The competent authorities must strengthen control over clothing stores before Eid, in order to control prices and help families buy clothes for their children on Eid. A large segment of the people of Deir Ezzor suffer from harsh economic conditions, in addition to the delay in delivering monthly salaries to employees during the past two months, which caused a purchasing crisis that prompted many to find suitable alternatives for materials, goods and clothing.
