Rehabilitation of Al-Hilaliya Station to enhance drinking water stability in Qamishli

The International Committee of the Red Cross, in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent branch in Hasakah and the General Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation in the governorate, carried out work to rehabilitate the basic mechanical and electrical parts at Al-Hilaliya Station, one of the main stations feeding the city of Qamishli with drinking water.

The rehabilitation work included addressing faults and renewing a number of vital equipment related to pumping and operations, which contributes to reducing frequent stops and raising the reliability of the station, especially during periods of high water demand.

The project is expected to positively impact the regular delivery of drinking water to beneficiary neighborhoods by reducing outage periods resulting from technical failures, while also enhancing the ability of the General Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater’s staff to operate the plant and conduct maintenance work more efficiently.

The rehabilitation of the Hilaliya power plant is of particular importance given its role in providing drinking water to hundreds of thousands of Qamishli residents, in light of the growing need for sustainable solutions that contribute to the continuity of water services and the preservation of the city’s vital infrastructure.
