A National Defense (NDF) militia’ fighter beat a young man severly in Deir Ezzor after the young man caused a sack of bread to fall from the fighters’ hand. The young man was transported to hospital.

Such acts are common by NDF fighters in the area, as the militia enjoys vast influence and power allowing them to conduct acts of violence against civilians and trying to exploit them to make money.

The NDF militia derives their influence from their support for the “Assad” regime in the area. “Firass al-Jaham” known as “Firass al-Iraqiya” commands the militia. Al-Jaham grants the militia unlimited powers that increase civilians’ suffering.
