Hydariyon is an Iranian-backed Shiite militia belongs to Iraqi Hashd Al-Shaabi, it has recently been active in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, especially in Al-Bukamal city.
Most of Hydariyon militia elements are Iraqis from the south and center of Iraq. They took part in Al-Bukamal battle alongside the Assad’s forces, and after taking control of Al-Bukamal, they seized houses in Al-Bukamal and made them military headquarters for them under the command of a person named Abu Fatima al-Iraqi.
The number of Hydariyon elements is between 1,000 and 1500, they have light and heavy weapons and armoured military vehicles, and their headquarters are found in Ajamiyat and Al-Hajjanah neighborhoods and most recently Al-Katif neighborhood.
It is worth mentioning that they are often tasked with protecting Al-Bukamal as they have a lot of vehicles at the entrances of the city.
