Yesterday, Saturday, elders and prominent figures in the northern Deir Ezzor countryside rejected a Russian invitation for a meeting in Al-Salhiyah town following protests in the region, local sources told Deir Ezzor 24 network.
Leading Russian figures had invited a number of elders from Maezila and Al-Azbah villages in the northern Deir Ezzor countryside to meet and discuss the demands of the protestors, but the invitation was rejected, according to Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent.
It is worth mentioning that the Russian forces have a coordination office in Al-Salhiyah town, through which they sent the invitation.
It is indicated that over the past two weeks, there have been protests and popular movement in the region to demand the Iranian militias and Assad’s forces leave the towns and villages they control east of the Euphrates in order for the displaced people to be able to return to their villages occupied by the militias.
