According to a reporter of the DeirEzzzor24 Network, the Deir Ezzorr-Damascus road has recently witnessed a remarkable boom, with the reopening of shopping centers, known locally as “restaurants,” along its length.
Our reporter said that most of the shopping centers and restaurants along the road have recently resumed operations, due to the active travel from Deir Ezzor towards Homs, Palmyra, and Damascus via this road.
Khaled Al-Badah, a worker at the “restaurant,” confirmed that their business has flourished day and night since the fall of the former Assad regime, thanks to the ability of young people to travel without restrictions.
He added that the active traffic on the Deir Ezzor-Palmyra road has led to the opening of car repair shops and fuel stalls, in addition to the resumption of rest stops.
He pointed out that the high demand has led them to develop rest stops by providing seating and dining areas, and offering a full range of food, including fast food, drinks, and canned goods.
Despite the boom in business and travel, drivers and passengers continue to suffer due to the roughness of the road and its lack of paving for many years. This makes it difficult for buses and trucks to move quickly, and the presence of potholes in large parts of the road leads to long travel times for both drivers and passengers.
