The head of the Pumping Stations Department at the Water Resources Directorate in Deir Ezzor, accompanied by the department’s technical team and a team from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), inspected a number of pumping stations and vital irrigation projects in the governorate, with the aim of reviewing their technical conditions and identifying their operational needs.
The tour included the main Sector 7 station, where the station’s operating conditions were evaluated and a number of the sector’s drainage wells were discovered, as part of studying its technical needs and developing appropriate solutions to ensure its continued operational efficiency.
The two teams also reviewed the situation of the box canals in the Fifth Sector project, which require the implementation of rehabilitation and maintenance work, which contributes to improving the efficiency of water transportation, reducing loss, and enhancing the use of available water resources.
At the main third sector station, the stopped pumps were inspected and the necessary procedures were discussed to secure replacement pumps, ensuring the continuity of the station’s operation and maintaining the readiness of the irrigation system during the agricultural season.
This tour comes as part of efforts to support the water infrastructure in Deir Ezzor Governorate and improve the performance of pumping stations and irrigation projects, which will positively reflect on the agricultural and service sectors.
