The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport announced that the rehabilitation project for Deir Ezzor Civil Airport has reached very advanced stages, as part of a comprehensive national plan aimed at reactivating airports in various Syrian governorates.
The Authority stated that the implemented work included completing a large part of the rehabilitation of the runway and basic facilities, in addition to implementing initial stages of technical work related to navigational systems.
The current phase focuses on completing technical equipment, conducting operational readiness tests, and improving the efficiency of support services, in preparation for reaching full operation.
Regarding the completion rate, work on the passenger terminal and administrative offices reached approximately 90%, while landscaping and entrance gate work reached approximately 70%. Stone cladding work for administrative buildings and passenger buildings also recorded remarkable progress of approximately 95%.
As for the infrastructure, the navigation lighting systems are now ready for installation, awaiting the arrival of special equipment to install them and put them into active service.
It is noteworthy that the rehabilitation work began on the fourth of last February, and it is expected that the project, after its completion, will contribute to stimulating economic and service activity in Deir Ezzor Governorate, and strengthening air connectivity with the rest of the governorates, in a way that supports the transportation sector, trade exchange and logistics services in the area.
