This morning, Monday, August 10, Deir Ezzor International Airport received the first flights of the World Food Program (WFP), carrying a delegation from the program headed by Qatari Director Marianne Ward.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation stated, through its official acquaintances, that the Director of Deir Ezzor International Airport, Firas Al-Azzawi, received the delegation and accompanied it on a field tour that included a number of airport facilities and installations, to see the status lof work and the available services and equipment.
The authority added that the tour discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in a way that supports humanitarian and relief operations through the airport and facilitates the arrival of aid to the region.
The flight comes within the framework of resuming and enhancing humanitarian air traffic to Deir Ezzor International Airport, about a week after its official opening on August 5, with a large government presence, and the arrival of a ministerial delegation on board a plane to participate in the opening ceremony, headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Al-Shaibani.
On its opening day, the airport received the first flights of the Kuwaiti Jazeera Airways company coming from Kuwait City, following the first domestic flight between Damascus and Deir Ezzor.
