In coordination and cooperation with the World Food Program WFP, the Syrian Bakeries Corporation continues the study and evaluation of the major bakeries in Raqqa Governorate, which are ten bakeries distributed between the city of Raqqa and its countryside, with the aim of improving the quality of bread production and raising the efficiency of services provided to citizens.
Initial studies have resulted in the selection of five bakeries for complete rehabilitation, including the implementation of interior and exterior cladding works, in addition to providing them with new production lines that contribute to increasing production capacity and improving loaf quality.
As part of the project’s preparations, companies applying for tenders were invited to conduct field tours and inspect the targeted sites, in addition to answering various technical and administrative inquiries before submitting financial and technical proposals.
The tours included the locations of the bakeries: Al-Tameen, Tal Abyad II, Al-Sabkha, Al-Thawra I, and February 23, where companies were briefed on the situation of the bakeries and their technical and service needs.
These steps come as a prelude to considering the possibility of intervention and support according to the priorities and needs of the targeted areas, which would contribute to enhancing food security and improving the stability of bread availability in Raqqa Governorate.
