A specialized medical team at Deir Ezzor National Hospital performed a complex surgery to remove a tumor pressing on the spinal cord of a patient who was suffering from progressive paresis that almost developed into permanent paralysis.
Radiological examinations (MRI) showed the presence of the tumor in the dorsal vertebrae area, which required careful surgical intervention due to the sensitivity of the site and its direct effect on neurological functions.
The operation was led by neurosurgeon Dr. Obaida Abdul Razzaq, who explained that the surgery was characterized by a high degree of complexity due to the proximity of the tumor to fine nerve tissue, stressing that the medical team succeeded in removing the tumor and completely freeing the spinal cord from pressure.
This achievement reflects the level of competence and experience enjoyed by medical personnel in the governorate, and their ability to perform qualitative operations within local hospitals, which contributes to reducing the burdens on patients and reduces the need to travel and bear high treatment costs outside the governorate.
