Today, the Turkish Ministry of Health delegation concluded its field tour in Raqqa Governorate by visiting Tabqa National Hospital, the destroyed comprehensive clinics building, and the transfer, ambulance and emergency system, at the conclusion of a three-day visit aimed at assessing the needs of the health sector in the governorate.
Following the field tours, the delegation held a meeting with the Director of Raqqa Health, Dr. Abdullah Al-Hamoud, in the presence of the Assistant Director, Dr. Saleh Al-Shawakh, during which the results of the evaluation and the needs identified by the delegation in health facilities were reviewed.
Dr. Al-Hamoud stressed that the priority at the current stage is to rehabilitate and equip the National Hospital in Raqqa and the Maternity Hospital, given their vital role in providing health services to more than half of the governorate’s population.
He explained that about 90 percent of the departments of the old National Hospital in Raqqa, which has a capacity of 340 beds, are still out of service, in addition to the need to rehabilitate the maternity hospital with a capacity of 160 beds, and rebuild and equip ten destroyed health centers, which would contribute to improving the level of health services and meeting the needs of the population.
