The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have seized 12 residential homes in al-Hirafiyin Association area in the city of Raqqa. These properties belong to people displaced from the cities of Deir Ezzor and Al-Bukamal in the eastern countryside, according to a reporter from the DeirEzzor24 network.
Our reported that the SDF seized the homes after their original owners returned to their hometowns following the fall of the former regime.
Local sources stated that the SDF notified the current tenants of these homes that they must vacate within a period not exceeding 10 days. These homes had been rented out by their owners who returned to Deir Ezzor and its countryside, where they have begun renovating their damaged homes and resettling in their areas.
One of the returning homeowners from Deir Ezzor said he was forced to rent out his house in Raqqa to cover the costs of restoring his damaged property in Deir Ezzor. He noted that the SDF informed the tenants to vacate the property within a maximum of ten days.
The man, who preferred to remain anonymous for security reasons, expressed his fear of returning to Raqqa due to the risk of arrest by the SDF, especially amid possible accusations of cooperating with the Syrian government after returning to government-held areas.
This incident has sparked concerns among several former displaced persons from Deir Ezzor and Al-Bukamal,many of whom had temporarily settled in Raqqa during the years of conflict, about facing a similar fate should they choose to return to their hometowns and leave behind their rented properties.
