Today, two people were killed when a landmine exploded in the western desert of Deir Ezzor while they were herding sheep, according to a reporter of the DeirEzzor24 Network.
Our reporter said that both “Hamid Al-Adad Al-Askar” and “Saleh Hamad Al-Askar” were killed when a landmine exploded in the Al-Bishri desert while shepherding sheep in the southwestern desert.
He pointed out that a civilian died yesterday as a result of a landmine explosion in Al-Shula desert, south of Deir Ezzor, and these incidents occur regularly in the province.
The General Security Forces have banned going to the desert to collect truffles and illegal firewood, due to the widespread presence of mines, and yesterday they arrested civilians on charges of going out to the desert and violating the decision.
It should be pointed out that the issue of removing mines in Deir Ezzor is still dependent on some civilian volunteers, and this is insufficient due to the lack of expertise and the absence of the necessary equipment to detect mines.
