The Arab Writers Union branch in Deir Ezzor, in cooperation with the “Rights for Justice and Development” Association, has launched a cultural and social initiative titled “Bridges of Culture: From Creativity to Cohesion” on the occasion of the first anniversary of liberation.
The initiative’s activities will continue throughout the month of December, with the participation of a group of writers, artists, intellectuals, and community activists. The events will include seminars, lectures, poetry and art evenings, in addition to various honorary ceremonies. All activities will be held at the Arab Writers Union headquarters in Deir Ezzor.
Opening Events
The initiative will begin tomorrow with the announcement of a cultural cooperation agreement between the Writers Union and the Association, followed by a discussion panel titled “Building Community Peace”, which will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Union’s headquarters.
Other Noteworthy Activities
On Saturday, December 7, the Association will organize an interactive lecture on “The Missing Persons File” at 10:00 a.m. The following day, Sunday, December 8, an artistic event titled “Art Resists Destruction” will be launched, featuring an exhibition of fine arts and photography at the old, destroyed Union building, with the participation of artists Fateh Abu Jdeea, Jomaa Al-Suleiman, and Khalil Abdul Latif at 1:00 p.mPoetry and Literary Evenings
On December 9, a poetry evening and a lecture about the martyred writer Ibrahim Khreitt will be held, presented by writer Abdul Nasser Haddad at 6:00 p.m. On December 10, another poetry evening and a lecture about the martyred writer Muhammad Rashid Ruwaili will take place at the same time.
Community Seminars
On December 11, an interactive seminar on the “Al-Shu’aytat Massacre” will be held, featuring documentary screenings at 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, December 13, a discussion session on “War Victims” will be held at the “Rights” Association headquarters.
Special Honors
On Sunday, December 14, there will be a dialogue session with former detainees, in addition to honoring “The Mother of Revolutionaries in Deir Ezzor,” Nahla Nassif, with a presentation of prison-themed poems by poet Abdul Nasser Haddad at 6:00 p.m.
Closing Days
The initiative will conclude on Saturday, December 27, with an interactive seminar titled “Together for Syria’s Recovery” at the “Rights” Association at 10:00 a.m. It will culminate on Sunday, December 28, with a closing seminar and an honorary ceremony at 6:00 p.m.
Purpose of the Initiative
The initiative aims to strengthen the role of culture and creativity in promoting national and social cohesion, and to build bridges of communication between creators and the community in order to reconnect the city’s components with its cultural spirit in a renewed Syria.
