The Engineering Battalion of the 66th Division in the Syrian Army continues to carry out operations aimed at removing war remnants and landmines from residential neighborhoods in the city of Deir Ezzor, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and protect civilians from the dangers posed by the remnants of war.
In a special statement to Deir Ezzor 24 Network, Abu Omar, a military commander in the 66th Division, confirmed that engineering units responded to appeals from residents of the Al-Huwaija neighborhood, where they began removing war remnants and cluster munitions scattered throughout the area, which posed a direct threat to the lives of residents, especially children.
Abu Omar explained that these operations are part of a continuous plan to clear residential neighborhoods and surrounding areas of any unexploded explosive materials, noting that specialized teams are working according to precise technical procedures to ensure the safety of civilians during the execution of their missions.
The division commander also addressed a call to the residents of Deir Ezzor, urging them to immediately report any war remnants or suspicious objects, to stay completely away from areas where they are found, and not to touch or approach them, in order to ensure their safety until specialized teams arrive.
These ongoing efforts underscore the Syrian Army’s commitment to supporting stability in the region and creating a safe environment that allows residents to return to their normal lives, through joint cooperation between specialized forces and the local community to reduce the risks posed by war remnants.
