A group of young residents from the Al-Bousrayya and Al-Muwazzafeen neighborhoods in the city of Deir Ezzor have launched a volunteer initiative aimed at beautifying Al-Bousrayya Street—from the Madlaji roundabout to the Faculty of Science roundabout—with direct support and coordination from the Deir Ezzor governorate, according to DeirEzzor24’s correspondent.
The initiative’s first phase included painting road medians and sidewalks, as part of grassroots youth-led efforts to revitalize one of the city’s vital streets.
Mar’i Abu Hassan, one of the volunteers, told DeirEzzor24 that the campaign was made possible through logistical support from the local government, noting that current efforts are only the beginning of a larger plan that will later include a tree-planting campaign along the same stretch.
Abu Hassan emphasized that youth participation in the initiative reflects a strong sense of civic responsibility, and he called on residents in other neighborhoods to launch similar campaigns to contribute to rebuilding and improving the appearance of the city. He stressed that reviving Deir Ezzor requires more than government action—it demands broad community engagement.
This volunteer initiative reflects a renewed spirit emerging from the hardships the city endured during years of war. It sends a hopeful message that with popular determination and official support, restoring life to the streets of Deir Ezzor is still possible.
