A team from the Ministry of Energy, represented by the Petroleum Sector Regulation Department headed by Engineer Musa Al-Jabbara, carried out a field tour that included a number of oil fields in Deir Ezzor Governorate, with the aim of assessing the technical status of the facilities and determining rehabilitation requirements.

The tour included the Tanak field and its affiliated stations in the areas of Al-Asharah, Al-Jido, Al-Maleh, Al-Azraq and Al-Ghalban, in addition to the Al-Omar field and its associated facilities.

Field inspections revealed significant deterioration in infrastructure as a result of years of unsystematic operation, necessitating extensive technical intervention to rehabilitate damaged facilities.
The team noted that the extent of the damage requires a comprehensive assessment and the preparation of an integrated rehabilitation plan that could extend over approximately three years. It also emphasized the need to establish an emergency room to expedite procedures and restore possible production at the shut-off plants, in parallel with developing systematic programs to address wells conditions.

The team stressed the importance of relying on national expertise in rehabilitation work, and the necessity of addressing harmful primitive practices in oil extraction, especially burning, due to the serious environmental and health damage they cause.
The Ministry of Energy confirmed that work will continue according to a well-thought-out path that balances urgent treatment and gradual rehabilitation, ensuring the efficiency of oil fields and achieving sustainability in the energy sector.
