According to a DeirEzzor24 reporter, the city of Deir Ezzor has recently witnessed a significant and noticeable drop in the prices of mobiles, electrical devices, and various electronic devices compared to previous months.
Our reporter said the reason for the decrease is the absence of taxes and levies at checkpoints compared to the former regime’s era, and merchants’ ability to import electronic devices and household appliances from northern Syria.
“A phone that used to cost around $200 is now priced at $100 to $110,” Hossam al-Hadi, a wholesale distributor, told DeirEzzor24.
He added, “The cancellation of customs duties on some phones and the reduction of customs duties on a large category of phones have led to a drop in phone prices.”
Cell phone prices in Deir Ezzor range from $65 to $1,500.
He noted that, in addition to phones and electronic devices, household appliances have seen a significant and noticeable decline due to the spread of European goods.
Used household appliances, known as “European,” are becoming increasingly popular. The price of a refrigerator and washing machine ranges from $100 to $150, while new European ones range from $200 to $500.
Traders purchase these appliances from areas in northern Syria, some of which are controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and transport them to Deir Ezzor Governorate.
