DeirEzzor24 network issued an infographic on crude oil prices in Deir Ezzor province, which Daesh has a monopoly on the financial returns from it, to be the most important sources of funding. The correspondents of DeirEzzor24 noticed a sharp decline in crude oil and petroleum products prices in this period, after oil exports stopped being transported towards Iraq due to the start of the battle of Mosul, and because of the destruction of bridges in Deir Ezzor.

Daesh is still able to extract crude oil and sell it, but the oil extraction process and marketing have faced several constraints, which have led to a decline in the financial resources that the Organization was obtaining significantly, where many see that the oil was a major reason for the Organization to do anything to control it.

The most prominent of these factors, is the destruction of bridges in Deir Ezzor by the Coalition warplanes during the last two months. The violent and intensive airstrikes knocked the bridges of Deir Ezzor out of service, most notably Al-Bukamal Bridge, Al-Mayadin Bridge and Al-Asharah Bridge in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

On the other hand, the decline in production capacities in the fields controlled by Daesh especially in Deir Ezzor province, is because that a number of them have been out of service due to the primitive and arbitrary ways that were existed and still continued to invest in the oil fields.

In addition, the Coalition warplanes are continuously targeting oil stations,  oil fields, oil tankers and oil refining facilities, depriving civilians of their work because of fear for of being targeted by air strikes.

It is worth mentioning that the transportation routes are still open for oil traders towards the Syrian opposition districts in Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, Homs, Daraa and Damascus. The traders from those areas are still coming to Deir Ezzor and al-Raqqa in order to buy oil.
