Sources revealed to Deir Ezzor 24 network that a number of Al-Mayadeen city elders in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside met at an Iftar (breakfast in Ramadan) on the invitation of Iranian militias, and that prominent leaders of the militias were also present.
The sources said that after the Iftar, a meeting was held between the elders and the Iranian militias, in which the militias renewed their demands to the elders to pressure the young people living outside the areas controlled by Assad to return, pointing out that the militias will provide legal protection for them from any actions Assad’s forces may take against them.
The source said that the Iranians asked the elders to convince their sons who work under the banner of Assad’s intelligence to cooperate with them and leave the work in the intelligence services. The source added that the Iranians are unhappy with the actions of military security in the city.
The source noted that the Iranians have provided material and moral benefits to everyone who will return to al-Mayadeen city, and join the Revolutionary Guard in Deir Ezzor, and that they are seeking to increase their numbers in the coming period.
It is indicated that Iran has established the Revolutionary Guard militia in Deir Ezzor from the people of the region by luring young people with financial benefits.
It is noteworthy that the recent movements of Iran’s militias have coincided with clear tension in Al-Mayadeen between the Iranians and the Russians in particular, as each party of them is seeking to strengthen its influence in the region.
