Local sources revealed to Deir Ezzor 24 network, that Russian forces conducted a military patrol on the outskirts of Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, and that it is the first time for Russia to move militarily in the region.
The sources said that the patrol drove near Al-Rahba Castle in the city, and near al-Taybah roundabout in al-Mayadeen.
The sources indicated that the movement of the Russian vehicles was a new twist for the Russian presence in the city, and that the Russian forces usually do not approach the area, where their presence was limited to military points.
Russia’s moves come at a time many reports have talked about the intention of Moscow to establish a foothold in the eastern region of Syria, which is under a complete Iranian control.
The Russian forces removed banners of Iranian militias from al-Mayadeen city, following which, a Russian Media Delegation visited the city.
Russia’s new moves in the region open the floor for questions about the role Moscow wants to play, especially that Al-Mayadeen and the entire eastern Deir Ezzor countryside are under a complete Iranian domination.
