The Deir Ezzor 24 Network reported an explosion in the headquarters of the Iranian 47th Regiment near the al-Hajana roundabout in the city of al-Bukamal. The explosion injured a guard of the headquarters, as the militia blocked the way in front of the headquarters. The explosion was a grenade.

The commander of the 47th Regiment affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) is Abu Isa al-Mashhadani from al-Bukamal and was famous for supporting Assad; however, he joined the Free Syrian Army when it controlled the area in order to protect himself. Then, he worked as a spy for the Assad regime and established checkpoints to impose taxes and rob civilians. Currently, he is a prominent commander of the Assad forces’ militias, one of the rich people of the area.

Al-Mashhadani is famous for promoting Shiism after he embraced it, hence Iranian militias controlling the area appointed him in charge of the 47th Regiment and commander of checkpoints in al-Buakamal and its countryside. Al-Mashahdani purchases area estates and lands for the Iranians and promotes drugs, as concerned authorities do not account him because is involved with Them.a
