The Endowments Directorate in Raqqa has completed the restoration and rehabilitation work of the city’s Grand Mosque, to be reopened to worshipers coinciding with the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan.
The restoration work carried out by the architectural workshops included maintaining the general structure of the mosque and preserving its historical character, as it was officially opened by performing the first Tarawih prayers there after the completion of the work.
The Director of Raqqa Endowments, Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Haddad, confirmed that the Grand Mosque is considered one of the landmarks of archaeological and historical value to the people of the city, noting the keenness to preserve this value during restoration operations.
Al-Haddad added that the Endowments Directorate is continuing to implement its plans to rehabilitate and restore mosques in the city and its countryside during the coming period, with the aim of improving the status of places of worship and receiving worshipers in the best conditions.
