The Deir Ezzor Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented a preliminary vision for a strategic project called “Al-Bukamal Free Industrial and Logistics Zone”, during a meeting that brought together representatives of the Chamber with the Director General of the General Organization for Free Zones in Syria, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Razzaq Al-Damen, to discuss ways to enhance economic development in the Eastern Province.
The project aims to establish an integrated economic zone that includes industrial, logistical and commercial activities, which will contribute to transforming the city of Albukamal into a regional center for trade and re-export, and enhance trade connectivity between the Syrian, Iraqi and Gulf countries markets.
The vision includes the establishment of industrial zones, customs warehouses, re-export centers, modern truck yards, assembly and distribution centers, in addition to refrigerated warehouses, customs clearance services, and value-added services such as packaging and labeling, in addition to offices for logistics companies.
The project is one of the initiatives proposed within the activities of the Border Trade and Logistics Services Forum, as part of efforts aimed at stimulating economic and investment activity in the Eastern area and enhancing the role of border crossings in supporting regional trade.
