Six civilians, including four passengers on a passenger bus and two in a truck loaded with sheep, died in a horrific traffic accident on Saturday near the village of Al-Shula, south of Deir Ezzor, according to a reporter of the DeirEzzor24 network.

Our reporter said that the accident also resulted in the death of approximately 20 sheep, in addition to significant material damage to the two vehicles.

He added that emergency and ambulance teams from the Syrian Civil Defense arrived at the scene, in cooperation with the ambulance system in Deir Ezzor city, and transported the bodies to the National Hospital for delivery to the families of the victims.

The Deir Ezzor Palmyra road is one of the most rugged roads in the region, lacking regular maintenance and adequate infrastructure, making it unfit for vehicle traffic and causing recurring tragic accidents.

The absence of communication towers along the road between Deir Ezzor and Palmyra also hinders the ability to request assistance quickly, increasing the risk of accidents and delaying the arrival of rescue teams.
