Neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city, particularly Al-Hamidiyah and Sheikh Yassin, are witnessing a gradual return of residents after years of displacement, amid a relative improvement in service conditions, according to DeirEzzor24 Network monitoring.
Our correspondent said that this return has directly contributed to the revival of commercial activity in the area, particularly on Hassan al-Taha Street, which has begun to witness a noticeable surge in business openings and increased buying and selling.
Mohammed al-Hamal, a resident of Al-Hamidiyah neighborhood, told Deir Ezzor 24 Network that many families have begun returning to the neighborhood and reopening their shops. He noted that this has been accompanied by a clear improvement in some public services, such as rubble removal and improved public hygiene, which has encouraged many to gradually resume their normal lives.
Abu Muhammad, a shop owner on Hassan al-Taha Street, confirmed to the network that sales have seen a significant improvement over the past two months. He added that people have begun flocking to the markets, indicating a partial recovery in the local economy and a positive impact on the living conditions of residents.
Despite these positive indicators, the reality is not without challenges. Abu Muhammad pointed out that the pitch darkness that engulfs the streets at night due to the lack of electricity is a major concern for residents, as it increases the incidence of theft and lawlessness. He called on the relevant authorities to intensify security patrols in neighborhoods and secure the streets with solar-powered lighting or other alternative solutions that ensure the safety of residents.
