A source told Deir Ezzor 24 network that Nawaf al-Bashir, a sheikh of al-Bakara tribe in Deir Ezzor, obtained a special approval from Maher al-Assad to receive 1,200 deserters and wanted men for compulsory and reserve military service, who want to sign settlement papers with the regime.
According to the source, the wanted men, who will sign settlement papers, will be recruited in Assad forces’ 4th Division under the leadership of al-Bashir, within the guard posts and headquarters located in the areas controlled by the Russians in Deir Ezzor, such as the six villages of Deir Ezzor countryside, east of the Euphrates, and will receive a monthly salary of 100,000 – 150,000 Syrian pounds per member.
According to the source, the agreement also included the opening of three recruitment centers in Marrat and Hawayej Diyab Shamia towns and Deir Ezzor city. The centers will receive the wanted persons and recruit them in the 4th Division.
Nawaf al-Bashir, a sheikh of al-Bakara tribe, rode the wave of revolution at its beginning, then returned to Assad side, working with the Iranians, but later he turned against them, and joined the Russians through Maher al-Assad.
