Members of the Assad forces’ 4th Division stationed at the al-Salama checkpoint on the western entrance of the city of Deir Ezzor confiscated a KIA 4,000 vehicle loaded with goods, canned food, and other food items. The vehicle came from the Syrian Democratic Forces-controlled areas. The 4th Division members transported the driver to an unknown destination.
4th Division members still impose taxes and confiscate goods under the title of Customizing which causes prices of materials to increase due to traders’ paying for Customs. Customs include traders of cows and sheep as they pay money to pass 4th Division checkpoints with their cattle. The traders are forced to increase the prices of cattle to cover up their loss caused by Assad regime members.
Taxes also include civilians as the 4th Division forces them to pay money to allow them to pass checkpoints with their luggage or even vegetables, fruits and food items they carry for their families. Imposing taxes increase civilians’ suffering due to poor life conditions in the area.
