Some young men in the city of Deir Ezzor have started investing in the waters of the Euphrates River as a new project and a steady source of income by renting out small boats, according to what DeirEzzor24 Network has observed.
Our correspondent reported that these boats take residents on water tours within the Euphrates River and then return them to the corniche, operating around the clock in exchange for a fee.
The fare per person ranges between 5,000 and 7,000 Syrian pounds, while families can rent a private boat for 30,000 to 35,000 pounds.
These boats run on either gasoline or diesel fuel, after being equipped with small engines to increase their speed on the river.
With the increasing demand amid the rising temperatures in Deir Ezzor these young men have turned this venture into a permanent investment after purchasing boats specifically for this purpose.
Majid Al-Ahmad, one of the boat owners, confirmed that he works from the afternoon until late at night, earning a daily income ranging from 250,000 to 300,000 Syrian pounds.
He added that the residents’ boat tours usually start in front of the restaurants and cafés spread along the riverbanks, passing by the suspension bridge, and then returning to the starting point.
He pointed out that he turned to this project after restrictions were imposed on the use of motorcycles in the city’s streets, which led him to invest his efforts in the waters of the Euphrates.
In terms of safety, boat owners stress that they do not allow children to ride the boats unless accompanied by their guardians, to ensure their safety and prevent them from jumping into the river.
