The kidnapping of the child Adnan Youssef Al-Nughaimish, from the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, has entered its fourth month without any tangible progress. The mystery surrounding his fate remains until now, along with growing concern among the local community.

The child, Youssef, was kidnapped in daylight before his family’s home in the town of Granij, eastern Deir Ezzor, on May 1, 2025. The incident resulted in widespread outrage and left residents shocked particularly since it occurred in an area under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

According to sources from DeirEzzor24 Network, the child’s family recently received a new video recording from the kidnappers. In it, the child appears pleading with his family for food an image that evoked deep sadness and widespread reaction across social media platforms.

The family said that the kidnappers have renewed their demand for a ransom of $50,000, insisting the money be transferred abroad without intermediaries or guarantees terms the family categorically rejects.

According to DeirEzzor24 sources, the family suspects the involvement of several well-known individuals in the region and claims to possess indications and evidence pointing to the identity of those responsible. However, despite more than three months having passed, the suspectes continue to deny any involvement, amid a lack of any real action by the relevant authorities.

The child’s family holds the local security forces particularly the SDF fully responsible for their failure to follow up on the case, especially since the incident occurred in an area under their control. The family is calling for practical steps that would lead to the child’s release and end his suffering.

The family also demanded on tribal leaders—mainly the elders of Al-Shaitat tribe to urgently intervene and take serious action to end this tragedy, emphasizing that the kidnapping and months-long detention of a child is utterly unacceptable under any circumstances.
