Sources told Deir Ezzor 24 Network that Muhammad Sa’eed al-Hakim the Iraqi clergyman arrived in the city of al-Bukamal, eastern Deir Ezzor days ago.
Al-Hakim represents a Shiite authority. The sources added that the reason for al-Hakim’s visit is participating in celebrating the Muharram month according to the Shiite beliefs.
The sources emphasized that al-Hakim met Iranian and Syrian figures over the past two days, amidst austere security measures in al-Bukamal, especially in the Jam’iyat neighborhood.
The Iranian Cultural Center in Deir Ezzor intends to celebrate the anniversary of Imam al-Hussein’s killing which marks the tenth of Muharram according to Shiite beliefs.
