On August 27,2020, a landmine exploded in a vehicle transporting Ahmad al-Iraqiya, who is a commander of the National Defense (ND) militia, on the Deir Ezzor-Damascus highway. The explosion injured al-Iraqiya and four fighters.
Ambulances transported the injured fighters and commander to the military hospital. Some fighters received critical injuries.
Al-Iraqiya is a relative of Firas al-Iraqiya the ND’ militia commander.
The ND militia lost fighters and commanders due to attacks over the recent days in areas in Deir Ezzor governorate.
