A member of the SDF’s counter-terrorism forces (HAT) was killed and others injured on Saturday, October 31, when a number of mines exploded in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
The mines exploded when a patrol of the counter-terrorism forces was driving on the road leading to al-Omar oil field base in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent said.
A source told Deir Ezzor 24 network that the type of mines used in the operation is locally called “Rosary”, as it is a series of mines exploding one after another once one of them exploded. They are used on ground without being buried.
This type of mines was previously used in Deir Ezzor by Daesh during al-Baghuz battles, and has not reappeared since then till yesterday’s operation.
