At the beginning of the new school year, residents of the city of Al-Quriyah in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside launched a local initiative titled “Knowledge is Light”, aimed at repairing damaged schools with support from the local community and in coordination with the city council.

The campaign included repairing internal and external doors, equipping restrooms, rehabilitating school desks, installing locks, and maintaining the external protective structures of school buildings.

The initiative seeks to improve school infrastructure and prepare it to accommodate the growing number of students, especially in light of the recent return of many families to the area.
