A source told Deir Ezzor 24 that 40 recruits joined the Assad forces’ 5th Corps in the Deir Ezzor governorate, after the corps announced recruiting young men.
The source added that 100 recruits have joined the 5th Corps over the recent two weeks.
The 5th Corps sent 30 new recruits to the al-Kharatta field, southern Deir Ezzor to participate in daily patrols Russia deploys at the perimeter of the field.
In early February 2021, Russia announced recruiting young men in the 5th Corps ranks to participate in campaigns to comb the Deir Ezzor badiya.
