The residents of the 47 villages located west of the city of Al-Shaddadi, along with the residents residing along the Al-Khorafi Road leading to Deir Ezzor Governorate, renewed their appeals to the concerned authorities and telecommunications companies, demanding the acceleration of the installation and operation of communication towers and networks, especially the «Syriatel» and «Zain» networks, to put an end to the ongoing suffering resulting from the lack of coverage in the area.

A number of residents explained that their areas suffer from severe weakness, to the point of lack of mobile phone coverage, which deprives residents of benefiting from basic communication services, and makes communicating with relatives and following up on their daily affairs extremely difficult, especially in emergency situations that require quick communication and requesting assistance.

The residents pointed out that the problem is not limited to one village or residential complex, but rather includes the 47 villages and scattered residential areas along Al-Khorafi Road, where there are large numbers of residents who depend on communications services in their daily lives, whether for personal communication or to complete their work and follow up on their various needs.

They pointed out the strategic importance of Al-Khorafi Road, as it is one of the vital roads linking Al-Hasakah Governorate to Deir Ezzor Governorate, and witnesses movement of citizens and road users, which makes providing telephone coverage along its length an urgent necessity, not only to serve the residents living in the area, but also to ensure the ability of travelers and vehicle drivers to communicate during their movement, especially when malfunctions, accidents or situations occur that require urgent intervention.

The suffering of road users increases in the absence of coverage, as travelers may find themselves unable to make contact when needed, whether to report an emergency, request assistance, or check on the safety of their families, which raises residents’ concerns about public safety on this vital road.

Residents stressed that the continued absence of communications services imposes additional burdens on them, at a time when mobile phone networks have become an essential means of communication, obtaining information, and managing many daily transactions and needs, in addition to the connection of a number of life services to the presence of a stable connection to the network.

In this context, residents called on the competent authorities and telecommunications companies, most notably «Syriatel» and «Zain», to conduct a field survey of the area, study its technical and population needs, and work on installing reinforcing towers and transmission stations that ensure coverage reaches villages and residential complexes, and extends along the Khorafi Road, in order to achieve an actual and stable service for citizens and road users.

Residents stressed that providing communications is no longer a secondary requirement or an indispensable entertainment service, but rather has become a necessity related to daily life, the safety of citizens and their ability to communicate, stressing that densely populated areas and vital roads should not remain outside the scope of network coverage.

The residents concluded their appeal by stressing the need to deal seriously with their demands, and to develop a clear plan to expand communications services in the 47 villages and their surroundings, which would end the state of isolation that the area suffers from, and guarantee the right of its residents to obtain basic communications services, like the rest of the areas.
