Yesterday, Saturday, October 10, the Syrian Anti-Narcotics Department announced the seizure of 2.5 kilograms of the narcotic substance «crystal meth», and the arrest of four people, including what it described as the leader of a drug smuggling network, during two simultaneous security operations in the governorates of Deir Ezzor and Hasakah.

The administration said that the anti-drug branch in Deir Ezzor carried out the two operations in coordination with the Internal Security Forces, targeting a smuggling network whose activity extends from the Iraqi border into Syrian territory.

According to the administration, the two operations resulted in the seizure of 2,500 grams of crystal meth «known locally as » H-Bose«, while trying to bring it into Syria, in addition to the arrest of the person it described as the leader of the network and three others.

The administration added that the competent authorities confiscated the seized materials and transferred the detainees to the competent judiciary to complete legal procedures, without revealing further details regarding the smuggling route or the exact locations where the two operations were carried out.

This operation comes in the context of ongoing security measures to combat drug smuggling in the eastern region of Syria, after previous operations announced by the Syrian authorities in coordination with the Iraqi side.

Last June, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the implementation of security operations in cooperation with the Iraqi authorities responsible for combating drugs, covering the governorates of Homs and Deir Ezzor. According to the ministry’s statement, the operations resulted in the dismantling of an international smuggling network and the seizure of 800,000 Captagon pills and 60 kilograms of hashish, which were prepared for smuggling and distribution.
