The Syrian Foundation for Building and Construction has begun maintenance and rehabilitation work on the Rashid Bridge (the new Raqqa Bridge), which connects the two banks of the Euphrates River in the city of Raqqa.

The bridge is one of the largest bridges in Raqqa Governorate, located on the banks of the Euphrates River. It was partially destroyed by an explosion in recent years, which led to its being decommissioned.

The Foundation’s workshops began removing rubble from the damaged part, in the first phase of rehabilitation work, in preparation for assessing the damage and technical needs, and then starting the process of pouring cement concrete and restoring the damaged structure, in preparation for putting it back into service.

The bridge constitutes a major transit line for commercial trucks, large buses and cars, as it is a vital service facility linking the two banks of the city.

Truck owners are currently forced to head to the city of Tabqa, west of Raqqa, to cross from Al Shamiyah bank to Al Jazira bank via the Euphrates Dam, which increases transportation costs and is reflected in an increase in the prices of goods in the markets.
