On Saturday, January 23, 2021, clashes occurred between the National Defense (ND) militia and the Liwaa al-Quds militia in the al-Maqabir (graveyards) in the city of Deir Ezzor.

The reason for the clashes is disagreement on earlier looted motorcycles, as both militias disputed over distributing shares.

Disputes and clashes between the ND militia and the Liwaa al-Quds militia are frequent in Deir Ezzor often due to sharing of lootings.
